The world's dullest casino

Griftdrift writes about Atlanta's annoying tendency to do things half-ass and completely miss the target, and the frightening possibility that we might be about to do this again with a "casino" in downtown that will have nothing but video lottery terminals. Even as someone who actually plays slot machines in a casino, this sounds like the single most boring and unappealing casino in the whole entire world. So far commenters of every political stripe have agreed it is a terrible idea....which has me good and frightened that it will actually come to fruition. When this lamefest fails, as it inevitably will, it will just embolden the opponents to real casinos in Atlanta and prevent us from ever getting the kind of glitzy moneymaking projects that have been a boon to other cities. That's why I'd prefer they built nothing at all, rather than wasting money and energy on this clunker.
