Troy Davis Update: Clemency hearing set

Troy Anthony Davis' clemency hearing has been scheduled for September 12, 2008 at 9am. It appears the hearing is closed to the media, so presumably it is also closed to the general public. (If someone knows otherwise, please leave me a comment or send an email. I doubt I can attend, but I'd like to know if others can.)

Davis is set to be executed on September 23, 2008 unless he is either granted clemency or succesfully raises an anticipated last-ditch federal habeas appeal on "actual innocence" grounds. With this Supreme Court, that seems doubtful. Unfortunately for Davis, Clarence Thomas is now the justice who handles the 11th Circuit's emergency motions for stay filed with the court in death penalty cases.
