A date for a travesty
Ever since the Georgia Supreme Court rejected Troy Anthony Davis' appeal for a new trial to consider the new evidence that 7 of the 9 witnesses who testified against him have now recanted their identifications of him as a cop killer, I have wondered when his execution would be set. Well, we now have a date of September 23rd. Hopefully the Board of Pardons and Paroles will hear his appeal and grant Davis clemency. If not, this state will commit the ultimate travesty of killing an innocent man. We cannot let that happen.
I don't pray very often, but I'm praying that we get this one right and that Davis receives clemency before Sept. 23rd.

as i have followed this case more and more closely including conversations w/ the ada that prosecuted the case--i have no doubt about this man's guilt--and continue to pray for officer mcphail's family over this situation
Care to share your special info with the class? I'd be really interested to hear what you think trumps seven different witnesses saying that they were pressured by police to finger the wrong guy.
i could sometime--would probably prefer not to in this forum--and readily admit that even though i am generally ambivalent about the death penalty--this case is a little personal to me as my dad started out as a sav'h cop and i remember him working part time security gigs in my youth like the one that the officer killed was doing on this particular nite...so in fairness i am not entirely impartial
