Let's try this again
Hope springs eternal. Even after I got knocked off the horse on my first outing, I'm going back for more abuse at the poker table. Tonight I fly to Memphis and then drive to Tunica, M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I (what I hear in my head every single time I see the word Mississippi). Both the World Series of Poker circuit event and the World Poker Tour are in town right now, and that means twice the opportunities to lose money to a bunch of card sharks!
After last time you might wonder why I'd ever subject myself to it again, and the answer is simply that I think I'm better than what my first time at the rodeo actually showed. This time I won't be so nervous I need a valium, I won't feel like a novice who's still figuring out how the process works, and I won't have my insanely lucky friend Jim there to show me up by winning the first table he sits down at. I still might not win anything, and if so that's fine. But last time my goal was to make it halfway in a tournament and I did that in the ladies' event. This time my goal is to play well in every event I enter, to make it at least close to the money in one, and to feel like I'm making progress. If I do all 3 of those things, even if I don't win a dime, I'll feel like I've really accomplished something.
Also during this trip we're going to take a detour to Memphis to at least drive by Graceland, and to visit this place to see their Otis Redding exhibit. Very excited about that part of the trip as well!
Hell, I may even take pictures this time, though I have to travel to Missouri on Monday for work and won't be back until late Tuesday so nobody should hold their breath waiting for pics.
