Live from the Supreme Court (maybe)
I'm hoping to get in to see oral arguments before the Georgia Supreme Court on the Genarlow Wilson case today, but given the relatively small size of the courtroom I may not make it in. If I do, will try to post live updates via my Blackberry either here or via Twitter (see sidebar on the right). If not, there is a webcast of the argument available here.
Update 1: This is gonna be tough from the Bberry but I will try. I arrived about 9:15 and there were very few seats left, thanks largely to what appear to be interns. Everywhere there are early 20-somethings! Lots of state legislators in the courtroom from the looks of the nametags, and Joseph Lowery is here. BJ Bernstein just arrived and she is wearing an ensemble that contains both leopard print and sequins. I question this wardrobe choice. Lots of energy, and someone has serious BO. They are going to close the courtroom at 9:45. Already there are spectators standing in the back. But they will have audio of the arguments playing through the PA on the entire floor, based on the last time I was here.
Ooh, sleazebag McDade just showed up! Even sleazier in person, if that's possible.
Update 2: these are going to have to be infrequent b/c Blogger doesn't like the Bberry. Sadly, Griftdrift did not get in before they closed the courtroom off.
It looks like McDade is going to be arguing the state's case, based on his seat at the counsel table.
