I love Whole Foods, but...

This bullshit they have about not selling live lobsters because it's too mean to the lobster is just silly. I'm pretty sure no animal would choose to die to be someone else's dinner, but that's just the way it is. But now, in just one store, they will actually sell live lobsters but only after they go through a host of niceties designed to improve their quality of life and death during their time at Whole Foods. Lobsters, who have a rudimentary nerve bundle for a brain, get to have "lobster condos" to ensure they have their own adequate personal space while in the tank. And before they even get to the tank they are caught and transported in a "2 touch" method designed to minimize any contact with humans or other lobsters during catch and transport. Once in their little condos, if purchased they will either be killed instantly via electroshock, or sent home with their purchasers for the old-fashioned cruel hot bath of death. If not purchased within 7 days of their arrival they will be electroshocked for some lobster stew or salad in the deli, because anything longer than 7 days in their condo in the tank would just be too mean.

I'm a total softie for animals, and I can take the empathy to extremes, but COME THE FUCK ON. Seriously? We're concerned about the personal space and quality of life in captivity of a crustacean? Give me a fucking break.
I love lobsters. THEY ARE DELICIOUS! And they are the only animal I've ever eaten after killing it with my bare hands. OK, my bare hands and a big pot of boiling water. If that makes me a murderous monster, so be it. I guess I will just have to procure my lobsters at Kroger.
