OK this? Is super cool.

I had no idea that Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and the most excellent film Serenity (all of which are known collectively to the cool kids as the "Whedonverse"), has designated Equality Now as his favorite charity. How cool is that?

But EVEN COOLER...Joss and Equality Now have teamed up to schedule screenings of Serenity in 47 cities around the world on or around Joss' birthday, June 23rd. All proceeds will go directly to Equality Now, plus it's a great opportunity to watch a kickass movie with a bunch of people who support a kickass cause. It's showing in Atlanta on June 22nd at the Lefont Plaza Theater and I'm going.

If you've never seen or even heard of Serenity, or any of the TV shows that made up the Whedonverse, it doesn't matter...Serenity is a really great movie and you will have a blast seeing it in a theater. If you've seen it a half dozen times before, at least this is a chance to see it on a big screen again! And even if you know it by heart and could recite it in your sleep...it's for a good cause. Check it out, the first link above has a list of venues participating around the world.
